Learning more about his MLB career, Belinsky was the first pitcher to win four consecutive games to start a career for the Angels - he threw a no-hitter to get that fourth straight win back in 1962.
From what I've read, Belinsky's off-the-field exploits really defined his life otherwise, regardless of whatever big-league career he had - with the notoriety the football quarterback has gotten for his partying and other off-the-field hijinks this NFL season alone, I can't help but think Johnny Manziel as a pretty good comp for Belinsky [who passed away in 2001],
He might not have a substantial MLB career, but Belinsky's status as a pro ballplayer in Los Angeles allowed him - to live it up, date Hollywood starlets and party hard.
If you want to read more there's the 1973 bio by Maury Allen, "Bo: Pitching and Wooing". You can get it on Amazon for under ten bucks. The cover looks a lot like a 1972 Topps baseball card.
