I kind of want to see if this particular project becomes a more significant, satisfying chase - while eBay effectively saturated the market, it makes it easier to look for cards whose values were inflated 25-30 years ago, even if they weren't quite the big money old-school/vintage cards serious collectors continue to chase today.
So far I only have 3 of 28 cards [a 1960 Willie Mays and a 1961 Eddie Mathews are the other two I bought years ago] for this project - there maybe a couple of other cards I can use, though they maybe tied to another part of my collection, so I might only decide to use them if they are the final two cards I need.
Curious what your guidelines are for your project, HOF only, commons, condition? Seems like it could be fun.
ReplyDelete1. The project is probably tilted towards cards of Hall of Famers - I have a short list [Aaron, Mantle, Mays, Koufax] of HOFers whose cards I'd like to pick up and work from there.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer picking up cards of Hall of Famers because I feel that's a no-brainer - though there might be at least 4-5 non-HOFer cards [maybe a Minnie Minoso, a Richie Allen, a Thurman Munson, a Mark Fidrych or Jim Bouton among others].
2. Condition on this project would probably be midlevel PSA grades between 4-6, though there might be lesser graded [maybe a '3'] cards in this project [as long as the card doesn't look like a beater] and higher graded cards [maybe a 7-8 for years between 1975-1980].
