Featured autograph - Wil Myers

I was watching the Texas Rangers / Tampa Bay Rays game on MLB Network when Myers hit a long opposite field home run - he maybe only 23, but the guy is strong as ox.

Getting his autograph in-person at the Arizona Fall League back in 2011 - I couldn't help but stare at how huge his hands were.

I like a little flair myself and it looks like the rookie pimps his home runs, which would raise eyebrows among the unwritten rules crowd - but since Myers might the next great hope, so he gets a pass for now, unlike Yasiel Puig perhaps.

Unfortunately homeboy was most allergic to most Sharpie pens and made like he couldn't hear when the Tampa Bay Rays played the Angels three weeks ago - I was shocked he was rather oblivious and made no real time to sign at any point inside the park.

Featured autograph - Tony Sanchez

I brought three of Sanchez's cards when the Pittsburgh Pirates played the Angels last weekend - since he'd just been called up, it was a cool moment to actually see the guy on the field and get him to sign the cards I had for him.

As someone who tries to bring random cards to the ballpark to get autographed - it makes some sense for me to bring extra cards of guys currently at AAA since MLB teams tend to bring up or send down players on a regular basis.

Featured autograph - Aaron Hicks

A highly regarded high school prospect, Hicks has made the slow and steady journey through the Minnesota Twins' farm system - despite showing some skills in his five seasons in the minors, Hicks has never been that uber prospect the Twins have been anticipating.

Still, he put together a pretty good season last year and after slugging the cover off the ball this spring - Hicks will be the Twins' Opening Day centerfielder and will look to try and stick around the major leagues this upcoming season.

Autograph request through the mail received: Devin Mesoraco

Devin Mesoraco c/o Cincinnati Reds [spring training] - the Reds rookie catcher signed my two cards, including a 2011 Topps Heritage 'setter.' I sent the request on 2/22/12 and my SASE with my cards signed snuck into my mailbox probably two or three days ago, on 8/15.

Featured autograph - Billy Hamilton

Billy Hamilton of the Bakersfield Blaze signed my 2011 Topps Heritage Minor League card last Sunday - in about two seasons, he has stolen about 200 bases.

I can't really explain the impact of Hamilton's base stealing feats, so perhaps this article from the Hardball Times - may put things into some context as far as the value of stolen bases and what Hamilton has accomplished so far.
